This just in! The world championship for professional drone racing, aka the Drones Champions League, will be taking over Saudi Arabia for its Super Final on December 20.
The mammoth occasion will occur in the heart of AlUla’s Old Town, which will not only showcase the historical significance of the ancient city along with how it happens to be the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Kingdom, but it will also add this iconic affair to its exciting repertoire of sports events.

Although no physical drones will actually be flying at AlUla, the Drones Champions League will be “a chance for drone sports enthusiasts to enjoy the stunning and diverse landscapes of AlUla, varying between golden canyons, lush green oasis or spectacular geological marvels,” the league said in an official statement.

The international event garnered popularity since its inception back in 2016. What used to be a tournament for physical drone racing has evolved and transformed into a virtual format, fusing hi-tec drones with the world of gaming. Each competition usually consists of 10 teams fighting for the first spot that eventually happens at the DCL Super Final. Whether you’re ready or not, things at AlUla are about to get litty.
