Bonus: World’s largest football (soccer ball)-February 12, 2013

Qatar successfully defended its candidacy in 2010 to be awarded the right to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, making it the first Middle Eastern nation to do so. After obtaining that distinction, Qatar continued and in 2013 established yet another Guinness World Record by constructing the largest football ever! The project was created and funded by Doha Bank to honor the forthcoming hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well as the country's growing role in international soccer.

The ball was initially constructed in Pakistan by 15 workers over the course of four consecutive weeks using the same components that are required to make an authentic soccer ball, in accordance with FIFA specifications. Then it was deflated and transported to Qatar, where it was presented in the Lulu Hypermarket parking lot on D-Ring Road. The soccer ball breaks the previous record by more than 2 meters and 200 kilograms, measuring 38.30m (125ft, 8in) in circumference and weighing 960kg!
