Rajiv Meherish, the Indian-origin entrepreneur behind Dubai-based restaurant chain Raju Omlet, has passed away on Sunday. He leaves behind a strong business story that turned a simple egg concept into one of the UAE’s most recognised homegrown food brands.

Staff at Raju Omlet outlets confirmed the news, as reported by Khaleej Times. The restaurants are still open and operating normally. Family friends said Meherish had been unwell before his death.

Meherish started Raju Omlet in 2013 with a simple idea: to turn everyday egg dishes into a special dining experience. Over time, the brand grew into a popular restaurant chain with at least seven outlets across Dubai. It became a favourite for both residents and tourists.

Many people from Dubai’s business community paid tribute to Meherish. They remembered him as a humble entrepreneur and a man with a clear vision who built success from an unusual idea.

Meherish was a commerce postgraduate from Mumbai University. He moved to Dubai in 1980 and began his career as a sales executive.

He later worked in media sales, including at Khaleej Times, before leaving the industry in 1989 to move into publishing and communications. During his career, he also worked on projects linked to major organisations such as Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Shopping Festival, and the Department of Civil Aviation.
