Ramadan Recipes: Mast o Khiar

Mast o Khiar is a simple, light, and refreshing Persian dip made of yogurt and cucumber. It can be served as an appetizer with chips and pita bread, or as a sauce to main dishes.

Mast o Khiar

4 cups plain Greek yogurt
2 cups chopped cucumber
2 medium garlic cloves
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp dried mint
1 tsp powdered dried rose petals
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup raisins
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
  • Method & Directions

  1. Prepare the Masr o Khiar

    In a large bowl, combine yogurt, garlic, raisins, mint, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Stir well until all the ingredients are well combined.
  2. Let it rest

    Cover and refrigerate the Masr o Khiar for about 30 minutes until ready to serve.
  3. Serve

    When you're all set, add the cucumber before serving, drizzle a little bit of olive oil, sprinkle the walnuts, add the rose petals, and enjoy!
