Vijay's Jana Nayagan Set for UAE and UK Release

Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan is set to arrive in UAE cinemas on July 23, while UK audiences will get the uncut version on July 24.

Fans in the UAE can look forward to seeing Jana Nayagan on the big screen from July 23. The film will also release in an uncut version in some overseas markets, including the UK.

The UAE release comes after months of uncertainty around the film’s certification in India. The makers have not yet announced the official India release date, but distributors have confirmed July 23 for the UAE audience.

UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment has also announced that Jana Nayagan will release in British cinemas on July 24 in its original, uncut form after receiving a 15 rating from the country’s classification board.

Sharing the update on social media, the distributor wrote: "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay," adding that the film would be screened "uncut, 15-rated" with "all the action, all the mass, all the Thalapathy craze, exactly as it was meant to be seen."

The announcement has created excitement among Vijay fans, especially because overseas audiences will get to watch the film without the cuts required for the Indian theatrical release. Some fans also hope the uncut version will later be available on streaming platforms.

The overseas release follows the film’s long certification delay in India. KVN Productions recently confirmed that Jana Nayagan has finally been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with an A certificate, ending months of delay after the film was sent to the revising committee following objections during the certification process.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol. The film is widely believed to be inspired by the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, and it is especially important because it marks Vijay’s first release after taking office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Reports also say that the actor’s usual "Thalapathy Vijay" title card has been changed to "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay," showing his move from film star to politician.
