Achieving Gender Balance Within Energy Transition Framework

The initiatives of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company "Masdar" focus on encouraging dialogue, promoting inclusivity, stimulating development, and preparing the next generation of sustainability leaders. These initiatives include the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the Women for Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy Platform, and the Youth for Sustainability Platform.

The Women for Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy Platform, officially launched during the seventieth session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, aims to encourage women and girls of all nationalities to lead positive change and innovation, ensuring their voices are heard through discussions on various sustainability topics and climate action. Since its inception in 2015, Masdar's strategic platform, Women for Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy, has supported women to actively contribute to sustainable change. The platform focuses on supporting current and future generations of women leaders in the field of sustainability.

In line with the UAE's goals related to achieving climate neutrality, the Women for Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy Platform was launched to enhance support for women to fully engage in addressing global climate change challenges. Women around the world often bear the brunt of climate change consequences, constituting 80% of climate change refugees. However, this challenge also presents opportunities, as women can leverage their knowledge, experiences, and innovative spirit to pioneer climate solutions. The platform, which operates year-round, focuses on three key pillars: education, communication, and empowerment. It aims to inspire and empower women, enhance their skills to succeed in all sustainability fields, making them leaders in sustainability and climate action.

The annual forum of the Women for Sustainability, Environment, and Renewable Energy Platform takes place during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. It brings together influential figures from around the world to highlight their experiences, expertise, and professional journeys in the sustainability sector, discussing topics related to sustainability that promote gender balance principles.
