An official investigation is now underway to uncover what triggered the massive fire at Sharjah’s Al Hamriyah Port over the weekend.

The fire, which started early Saturday morning and was fully contained by Sunday at 6:25 AM, involved highly flammable petrochemical products. Authorities confirmed that the blaze did not cause any injuries, but its intensity required a large-scale emergency response.

Forensics Teams Now Involved

Sharjah’s Police Chief, Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, announced that forensic and technical teams are currently working to identify the root cause. Investigators from lab and forensic departments will collect evidence from the site and run detailed technical analyses to determine what went wrong.

The findings will be released once all forensic and lab procedures are completed. Officials also plan to assess the full extent of the damages in collaboration with other agencies.

Multi-Agency Response Played Key Role

The operation involved multiple entities across the UAE, including teams from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, Civil Defence units, and ADNOC, all working alongside Sharjah’s emergency teams. Their coordinated efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby facilities.
