As New Year’s Eve approaches, the UAE National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has released its official weather forecast for December 31, outlining cooler conditions, increasing wind speeds and possible fog formation overnight.

While light clouds may appear across islands, coastal zones and northern areas, the centre notes that significant rainfall is unlikely as residents gather for year-end celebrations.
According to the bulletin, the final day of 2025 will be fair to partly cloudy, with a noticeable "winter chill" as temperatures continue to drop nationwide. By evening, humidity is expected to rise sharply, increasing the chance of fog or mist in the early hours of January 1, potentially affecting visibility for motorists and early travellers.
Temperature levels will remain mild during the day, with highs of 21°C to 24°C in coastal cities including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, tapering to 15°C to 17°C at night. Interior regions may cool further to 10°C to 12°C, while high-altitude locations such as Jebel Jais will experience much colder conditions.
Wind is expected to be a key factor during celebrations. The NCM forecasts moderate to fresh northwesterly winds at 15–30 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h in exposed areas. These gusts could stir dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility for holiday commuters heading to fireworks and outdoor events.
Maritime safety alerts also remain in effect. The Arabian Gulf is expected to be very rough to rough, while the Oman Sea will stay rough to moderate, making conditions unfavourable for New Year boat gatherings or offshore celebrations. Authorities continue to urge caution for marine activities throughout the night as winds maintain turbulent sea conditions.
As the UAE prepares to welcome 2026, residents planning outdoor festivities are advised to dress warm, monitor local weather updates and factor visibility into travel plans to ensure safe end-of-year celebrations.
