Dubai Introduces New Regulations for Jet Ski Rental Companies

The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) has announced new requirements for companies and individuals involved in the rental of jet skis and watercraft used in water sports.

Circular No. 13 of the Year 2023, issued on May 11th, 2023, required all companies renting jet skis and watercraft to install tracking and remote-control devices.

Also, the DMA has asked companies to program the jet skis by the restricted speed zones.
Trainers must hold a training certificate for the safe operation of personal watercraft built for watersports, which is provided by the DMA.

The new directive also requires all companies to comply with the new regulations before October 31st, 2023, to avoid penalties.

“As custodians of the emirate’s maritime sector, we are keen to continuously develop the industry and enhance our partnership with the private sector,” said Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, executive director of Dubai Maritime Authority.

The DMA is the newly-established authority responsible for regulating, coordinating, and supervising all aspects of the emirate’s maritime sector.
