Breaking: Sheikh Mohammed Introduces New Law on Dubai Official Emblem

A new law announced in Dubai on Monday requires the emirate to have its own distinct emblem, which must reflect its values and principles. The law, numbered 17 of 2023, also protects the emblem as the property of Dubai.

His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a new law on Monday requiring Dubai to have its own distinct emblem. The law, numbered 17 of 2023, also protects the emblem as the property of Dubai.

The emblem can be used on government facilities, documents, websites, and during official events. Private entities may also use the emblem, but they must first obtain permission from the Ruler of Dubai or his representative.

The new law that establishes Dubai's emblem also includes penalties for improper use of the emblem. Violators may face imprisonment of three to five years and/or a fine of Dh100,000 to Dh500,000.

Individuals who are currently using the emblem must stop using it within 30 days unless they obtain permission to continue using it. This requirement does not apply to government entities or those who have already been granted permission to use the emblem.

The Chairman of Dubai's Ruler Court will issue the necessary decisions and regulations to implement the new law on Dubai's emblem. The law will come into effect on the day it is published in the Official Gazette.
