FBI Declares the Incident as Domestic Terrorism


 

A tragic shooting at Annunciation Church and School in Minneapolis has claimed the lives of two children and left 17 others injured. According to the FBI, the attack is being investigated as an anti-Catholic hate crime and an act of domestic terrorism. The attacker, who has been identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter): "The FBI is investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics."

The Attack During Church Mass

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning as children were celebrating Mass at the Annunciation Church, a building that also houses a school. The attacker fired a barrage of bullets through the church's windows. The victims included two children, aged 8 and 10, who tragically lost their lives in the attack. Among the injured were students and other individuals attending the prayer service.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the event as "a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshiping." He added, "The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible."
