ISIS Suspect Behind Taylor Swift Concert Plot Also Planned Attacks in Dubai

Austrian authorities have filed terrorism charges against a 21-year-old, identified as Beran A, who plotted an attack on Taylor Swift’s 2024 Vienna concerts—and reportedly planned assaults in Dubai and Istanbul as well.

Three shows at Vienna’s 65,000-seat Ernst Happel Stadium were canceled after foreign intelligence tipped off police, preventing what could have been a devastating tragedy.

Suspect’s Alleged International Plots

Vienna prosecutors revealed that Beran A was allegedly involved in planning attacks beyond Austria:

  • Dubai and Istanbul were targeted but the plots were never carried out.

  • He is accused of participating in a murder plot in Saudi Arabia, linked to a knife attack at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in March 2024, which injured four others.

Authorities say he also allegedly helped another suspect, currently detained in Saudi Arabia, with these international plans.

ISIS Links and Online Activity

Prosecutors describe Beran A as a member of ISIS who:

  • Conducted online research on shrapnel bombs used by the group

  • Incited terrorist offenses via Snapchat

  • Distributed ISIS propaganda online

  • Pledged allegiance to ISIS

If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison. His lawyer has disputed the accusations.

Swift Concerts and Past Threats

The cancellation of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Vienna is credited with preventing a potential tragedy. Taylor Swift publicly thanked Austrian authorities, saying their quick action meant “we were grieving concerts and not lives.”

The case recalls Austria’s 2020 terror attack, when ISIS supporter Kujtim Fejzulai killed four people in Vienna’s city center.
