UAE and Tunisia Sign an Agreement to Restore Ibn Khaldun's Home

UAE and Tunisia have signed an agreement to restore Tunis home of the great 14th-century Arab scholar Ibn Khaldun and to make a museum from it to preserve the Arab scholar's legacy. 

Abdulrahman Al Owais and Hayat Al Qarmazi signed the agreement. Al Owais is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre and Al Qarmazi is Tunisia's Minister of Culture.

This initiative is being taken under the patronage of the Vice President of the UAE and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. 

The agreement is expected to strengthen the partnership between the UAE and Tunisia in a way that will present the rich cultural heritage of the Arab world. 

Ibn Khaldun's home is in the Bab Al Jedid area in Tunisia. It has a courtyard, a ground floor, and an upper floor. The house was built during the Hafsid rule (1229-1574).

Ibn Khaldun is famous for his work 'The Muqaddimah' which covered a history of politics, civilization, theology, biology, and chemistry.
