Speculations about Anushka Sharma's second pregnancy surfaced in November 2023, notably after her appearance at a Diwali celebration in Bengaluru before Team India's World Cup match against the Netherlands. Although the couple remained discreet about the pregnancy, fans noticed Anushka's baby bump during the Diwali event, sparking online speculation.

While Virat Kohli took leave and missed India's Test series against England, rumors circulated about the couple expecting their second child. The confirmation came from former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers in early February, although the couple did not officially announce the pregnancy. Despite the initial revelation, there was a subsequent retraction by AB de Villiers.
