Warner Bros Delays 'Dune,' 'Lord of the Rings' Films Due to Strike

A Warner Bros studio spokesperson announced that the big-budget "Dune" sequel's intended November release date will be postponed until March 2024 since the film's stars are unable to promote it while participating in the Hollywood actors' strike.

The decision deals a blow to cinema chains such as AMC Entertainment, Cineplex, and Cinemark which are still trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dune was one of the most anticipated films for late 2023.

Dune: Part Two will now be released on March 15th, 2024, the same date as Warner Bros' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The release date of the monster film has been changed to April 12th, 2024.

As a result, the release of the Lord of the Rings which was originally scheduled for April 2024 was shifted to December 2024.

Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet feature in Dune: Part Two, a science fiction sequel to Frank Herbert's 1965 novel about an interstellar conflict over a precious resource.

Since the SAG-AFTRA actors union joined the striking Hollywood writers on July 14th and walked off the job, top celebrities have declined to promote upcoming movies.

Due to the actors' strike, other film studios have had to change their release dates for their films because there are no celebrities to appear on talk shows or red carpets to generate hype.
