Why Quiet Curiosity Signals Real Intelligence

Intelligence is commonly equated with speed in responding, cutthroat arguments or academic performance. However, according to studies of psychology and simple observation, it can be quieter, and this can be important: intelligent curiosity. Individuals who always ask questions, watch and think are more likely to develop a better insight with time. This is not a quality that tries to attract attention and immediate validation. Rather, it is concerned with learning, listening and connecting ideas patiently. These people are usually ignored since they are not necessarily the most vocal people in the room. Nevertheless, their gradual style enables them to assimilate and adjust to change and use balanced judgments. It appears that curiosity is quiet and persistent, and in such a state, intelligence is strongest.
