Sharjah Police have confirmed the tragic death of a 14-month-old Asian boy who was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident outside his home. The accident occurred on November 3 at approximately 4pm, when the toddler slipped out of the house while his siblings were inside.

According to authorities, the motorist hit the child and fled the scene immediately. The toddler’s two-year-old brother witnessed the collision and rushed to alert their mother, while the father was reportedly at work at the time. Emergency responders transported the child to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sharjah Police Operations Room received the report shortly after the incident, prompting a patrol from Wasit Police Station to launch an investigation. A specialised team was formed to track down the suspect, and police later confirmed that the driver had been identified and arrested. The individual has since been referred to Public Prosecution for further legal action.

The case highlights ongoing concerns around road safety and hit-and-run incidents in the UAE, with authorities urging motorists to prioritise vigilance and responsibility, especially in residential areas.
