Summer just got a little cooler for Dubai’s government employees. The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has officially announced the return of the ‘Our Flexible Summer’ initiative, offering public sector workers the choice of two flexible work schedules from July 1 to September 12.
The revamped workweek will remain within the five-day framework but gives employees the option to choose between:
- Group 1: Work 8 hours from Monday to Thursday and enjoy Fridays off entirely, or
- Group 2: Work 7 hours from Monday to Thursday and 4.5 hours on Friday.
Each department will implement the schedule at its own discretion, according to the DGHR. The move comes after the successful trial run of the same initiative earlier this year and is designed to enhance employee happiness and productivity during the hotter months.
“This is all about supporting a better work-life balance for our government teams,” the department said in a statement.
With scorching summer days ahead, this policy might just be the chill boost Dubai's government workforce needs.
