Multiple fires broke out at the Borouge factory in Abu Dhabi after debris from a successful air defence interception struck the site, authorities confirmed.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced that operations at the facility have been suspended immediately as emergency teams work to contain the situation and assess the damage.
No injuries have been reported so far, according to officials, who said updates will be issued as the situation develops.
Authorities also urged residents to follow official communication channels and refrain from sharing unverified reports.
The incident follows a series of similar events linked to falling debris after air defence operations across the emirate.
On April 3, a similar fire broke out at the Habshan gas facilities after debris fell on the site, resulting in one fatality and multiple minor injuries. On the same day, authorities also responded to debris in the Ajban area.
The repeated incidents underscore the risks posed to key infrastructure amid escalating regional tensions.
