Who’s in Charge?
Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, the UAE’s Minister of Health and Prevention, has been appointed as the Chairman of the new authority. The body will report directly to the UAE Cabinet, operating with full legal, financial, and administrative independence — meaning it’ll have the power to make its own calls when it comes to emergency response and safety measures.
What the New Authority Will Do
This isn’t just a name change — the new authority’s job list is packed. It’ll:
-
Develop national emergency strategies
-
Manage crisis response and evacuation plans
-
Oversee building safety and fire prevention
-
Coordinate with local and federal entities
-
Lead disaster preparedness and pollution hazard monitoring
It’ll also support vital industries like oil, aviation, and infrastructure, making sure emergency services are ready for anything.
