Discover The Artwork Which Embodies Sharks at Lusail Trail

Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company revealed the new artwork "Al naham", which embodies the whale shark, one of the endangered marine species, which takes the marine environment in Qatar as its home, as Qatari waters host one of the largest concentrations of whale sharks in the world.

The unveiling of the new artwork, which was created by the well-known international artist "Marco Baelish" in Baelish Wonder Studio, as a part of the ongoing celebrations in the city of Lusail, coinciding with the country's upcoming hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️, whose competitions will start in a few days,

And a part of the state's efforts to protect endangered marine species, and to educate the public about the threat to these rare marine resources.

The aluminum and steel art piece is 30 meters long and is suspended at a height of 20 meters between the four towers of Lusail Plaza, designed by the architectural firm Foster + Partners, and owned by Sir Norman Foster.

Engineer Abdullah Al-Attiyah, CEO of Qatari Diar, said: “The whale shark is one of the most famous species of fish in Qatar, and the city of Lusail will receive fans and visitors from all over the world during the World Cup, so we hope that the artwork will raise awareness of these endangered marine creatures, And to constitute a collective call for the conservation of the whale shark, which is of special value to us in Qatar.”

Qatar is home to one of the world's largest species of the whale shark, with the country's northern coastal waters providing an ideal habitat for them to congregate and forage near the surface of the sea.

The Whale Shark Sculpture in Lusail City, presented by Qatari Diar, is a wonderful addition to the outdoor art scene in Qatar.

Among the other artworks: are the statue of the artist Ahmed Al-Bahrani, "The Family of the Sea Bugs in Ruwais Beach", and the installation work "The Journey of Shadows in the Bahr Al-Nahar" by the artist Olafur Eliasson, "in Al-Zubarah, and the anthropomorphic earring tree seed in the mail yard by the artist Muhammad Al-Ateeq, in addition to the sea cow or the dugong by the artist Jeff Koons, which is now located in the theater garden overlooking the Corniche.

These works aim to raise awareness about preserving the natural environment of the region and to call for collective participation in protecting the natural life on the earth.
