H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Allocates $5 Million Aid for Gaza Reconstruction

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has directed the allocation of $5 million in aid to support the reconstruction of Gaza.

This crucial financial assistance aims to bolster the ongoing efforts of Ms. Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, in addressing the severe humanitarian crisis in the region.

The announcement follows a meeting between H.H Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sigrid on Friday, focusing on strategies to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and the urgent need for a ceasefire. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of ensuring the swift delivery of humanitarian relief and medical aid to the Palestinian people without obstacles.

The ongoing crisis in Gaza has taken a devastating toll, claiming at least 27,238 Palestinian lives and leaving 66,452 wounded. Additionally, 30% of buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged, according to the United Nations Satellite Centre.

Since October 7, 2023, UAE leaders have consistently directed millions in humanitarian aid to assist Palestinian victims. The Tarahum for Gaza campaign, initiated by Sheikh Mohamed, along with the Gallant Knight 3 humanitarian operation, showcases the UAE's commitment to providing on-the-ground support and aid to Gaza's civilians.

The comprehensive initiatives include the establishment of a fully equipped Emirati field hospital, the construction of desalination plants in Rafah to address water shortages, and the transportation of 1,000 injured Palestinian children, along with their families, to UAE hospitals for medical treatment. Sheikh Mohamed's steadfast efforts demonstrate the UAE's dedication to contributing to the recovery and well-being of those affected by the crisis in Gaza.
