How to Organize Prayers and Worship for Laylatul Qadr?

Although the whole of Ramadan is dedicated to maximizing one's spiritual deeds, the last ten days of Ramadan are when Muslims intensify their spiritual practices and prayers because of Laylatul Qadr.

What is Laylatul Qadr?

Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree or Night of Power, falls in the last third of the month of Ramadan because it is when the Quran was first sent to the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.).

Therefore, the last ten days are when Muslims invest more time in worship and spiritual devotion.

Here is how you can organize your prayers for Laylatul Qadr.

How to Organize Your Prayers for Laylatul Qadr

Pray Isha and Taraweeh on Time

During Ramadan, people are likely to delay the last prayer of the day because of a heavy iftar or participating in Ramadan festivities.

However, during the last ten days, people should pray Isha and Taraweeh on time or earlier than they do.

This will give them enough time after Taraweeh to engage in other kinds of worship such as reciting or studying the Quran before the Laylatul Qadr prayers later in the night.

Engage in Other Acts of Worship Before Laylatul Qadr Prayers

Set aside some time before Laylatul Qadr prayers to engage in other kinds of worship including reciting the Quran and duas (short verses for prayer) to maximize worship during the last ten days.

Plan Ahead

If you're praying Laylatul Qadr prayers at home, plan what chapters of the Quran you will recite during Laylatul Qadr, which you can revise ahead of your prayers.

Get Rid of Distractions

Although, the last ten days are all about focusing on worship, people can easily get distracted by their smartphones, so when you are offering Lalatul Qadr prayers, keep your phone on silent and keep it away from yourself.

Have a Quran Nearby

If you're praying Laylatul Qadr by yourself, it is best to have a Quran nearby so you can revise the chapters in between prayers or check if you made any mistakes during your prayers.

If you're praying in a congregation, you might want to keep up with what chapters the Imam is reciting, so you can hold the Quran open during your Laylatul Qadr prayers.

Take a Break Between Prayers

Laylatul Qadr's prayers will take time, so do not try to rush everything. Take a break after offering four raka'ahs of prayer because you need time to relax and rejuvenate for the rest of the prayers.

Avoid Burnout

Since it is Ramadan, you are already experiencing fatigue even after iftar, so it is best to rest up after Taraweeh and before Laylatul Qadr prayers, to optimize your worship.

Follow these tips and you will be able to maximize your worship for the last ten days of Ramadan!
