The UAE has set strict penalties for vehicles that produce excessive noise or undergo unauthorised modifications—and it’s not just a small fine.

Here’s what you’ll face

According to the Ministry of Interior, violators will get:

  • AED 1,000 fine

  • 12 black points on their driving record

  • 30-day vehicle impoundment

What counts as a violation?

The rules apply to:

  • Vehicles creating disturbing noise levels

  • Cars with engine or chassis modifications done without approval

These violations fall under Article 73 of the UAE’s traffic law (Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2017).

Why the crackdown?

Authorities say excessive noise from modified vehicles can disrupt public comfort and affect residents’ quality of life.

The focus isn’t just on loud engines—it also covers modifications that may impact vehicle safety and structure.
