Palestine and Syria are through to the quarterfinals of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, thanks to a goalless draw at Education City Stadium on Sunday. It wasn’t the flashiest match of the tournament, but it got the job done for both teams.

Palestine finished the group stage on five points, topping Group A on goal difference. Syria followed closely behind in second place.

A No-Risk Game From Start to Finish

This game was the definition of playing it safe. Both teams knew a draw would send them through, so the tempo stayed slow and the ball spent most of the match chilling in the midfield.

Palestine had the first real look with a long shot from Tamer Seyam, but it was easily collected by the Syrian keeper. Syria answered with a late first-half chance from Omar Khribin, but it went wide.

Second Half Saw More Action—But No Breakthrough

Syria tried to raise the pressure early in the second half, with Mohammad Alsalkhadi sending the most threatening shot over the bar. A brief moment of excitement came when Syria were awarded a penalty, but VAR quickly overturned it.

In the end, neither side pushed too hard, and the match wrapped up exactly the way both teams needed: 0–0 and safely into the quarterfinals.
