Philippines Named One of the World’s Most Exciting Foodie Destinations for 2026

The Philippines is officially on the global foodie map. The Michelin Guide has named the country one of the “most exciting foodie destinations” for 2026, joining 15 other nations celebrated for their culinary scenes.

According to the guide, 2026 is the perfect time to explore Filipino food, especially in Manila and Cebu, where the local cuisine is gaining international attention.

Young Chefs, Bold Flavors

Michelin highlighted the new wave of young Filipino chefs redefining the country’s cuisine. These culinary innovators are blending traditional flavors with international techniques, giving classic dishes a modern twist.

Some of the must-try dishes mentioned include:

  • Sisig – sizzling, tangy, and savory

  • Sinigang – the iconic sour soup

  • Inasal – grilled chicken with signature marinades

  • Adobo – the beloved sweet-salty staple

The guide also pointed out that fresh, year-round produce is a key ingredient that makes Filipino cuisine shine.

Michelin’s Philippine Debut

The Michelin Guide officially launched in the Philippines in October 2025, unveiling its first local recommendations. For the 2026 edition, it recognized 108 establishments across the country:

  • 74 Michelin Selected restaurants

  • 25 Bib Gourmand awardees

  • 8 with One Michelin Star

  • 1 with Two Michelin Stars

A Taste of Asia

The Philippines isn’t the only Asian destination to make the list. Cappadocia in Türkiye and Jiangsu Province in China also earned spots among Michelin’s most exciting culinary destinations for 2026.
