The UAE national football team triumphed with a 3-1 win against Qatar in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Doha. Despite Qatar's dominance in the first half, the UAE fought back to take control in the second half, securing a crucial victory on the road to qualification.

Qatar's Early Control

UAE Strikes Back

Despite Qatar's control, the UAE found its footing as the game progressed. Tahnoon Al Zaabi nearly leveled the match with a shot just wide of the top corner, signaling a shift in momentum. Yahia Nader’s clever pass allowed Abdullah, the young forward from Shabab Al Ahli, to fire in a left-footed shot, bringing the UAE level and shifting the game's balance.

Momentum and Drama

With newfound confidence, the UAE capitalized on Qatar’s defensive gaps. Right-back Al Dhanhani made an impressive run from his own half, unleashing a left-footed shot that found the top corner, giving the UAE the lead.

In the final minutes, Qatar was awarded a penalty, but referee Shaun Evans reversed the decision after Nader’s accidental handball. Shortly after, UAE substitute Saleh sealed the win with a powerful shot into the net, securing a 3-1 victory.
