Abu Dhabi Launches Virtual Marriage Service—Get Legally Wed Online in Just 24 Hours

Abu Dhabi has just made getting married a whole lot easier—and techier. The emirate has launched a virtual marriage service through its TAMM government app, letting couples from anywhere in the world tie the knot online. No embassy visits, no courthouse appointments—just your phone, a few documents, and an internet connection.

Who Can Use It

The service is open to everyone, including Emirati citizens, foreign residents, and even non-residents. The only catch? If you’re not in the UAE, you’ll need a lawyer or representative based in the country to complete the process.

How It Works

For Dh800 (about $218), users can fill out the marriage forms, upload documents, book an officiant, and even hold a virtual ceremony—all within 24 hours. According to Mohamed Al Askar, head of Abu Dhabi’s TAMM platform, couples can “do the whole transaction without going anywhere.”

A First in the Region

This move makes Abu Dhabi one of the first in the world to offer fully digital marriages open to all nationalities. The UAE also stands out as the only Gulf country that allows non-religious marriages, though that option remains for foreigners only.
