Excitement is brewing among Abu Dhabi residents as a captivating light art exhibition prepares to grace the city. Running from November 15, 2023, to January 30, 2024, this unique event will cast a luminous glow upon the archipelagos and mangroves of the capital.

Featuring a stunning array of commissioned and site-specific sculptures, immersive projections, and artworks, the exhibition brings together the talents of both local and international artists.

This artistic endeavor is a vital part of the Abu Dhabi Public Art initiative, which was launched earlier in 2023. Aptly named "Manar Abu Dhabi," which translates to "lighthouse" in Arabic, the exhibition serves as a celebration of the emirates' natural beauty, inviting visitors to experience the Abu Dhabi coastline in a fresh and illuminating way.

"Grounding Light" is the inaugural theme of Manar Abu Dhabi, curated by Reem Fadda, Director of Abu Dhabi Culture Programming, Director of the Cultural Foundation, and Artistic Director of Public Art Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Alia Zaal Lootah, Manar Abu Dhabi Curator.

More than 35 unique artworks have been specially commissioned for Manar Abu Dhabi, hailing from over 13 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Palestine, Tunisia, the UK, and more. These creations are the work of esteemed artists such as Ahmed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, Alaa Edris, Asma Belhamar, Ayman Zedani, Carsten Höller, Groupe F, and many other talented individuals.

The art installations will grace various iconic locations throughout Abu Dhabi, including Lulu, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, Jubail, Al Samaliyah, and Fahid Islands. Additionally, Corniche Road, Mina Zayed, and the Eastern Mangroves will shine with these remarkable displays. The art journey spans 2.3 kilometers, leading from Al Samaliyah to the Saadiyat Cultural District on Saadiyat Island and culminating in mesmerizing exhibits on Lulu.

Beyond the visual spectacle, Manar Abu Dhabi promises a diverse program of talks, workshops, and art performances, offering residents and visitors an enriching and immersive experience throughout its duration.
