Celebrities facing legal trouble in the UAE! Who are they?

Mohammed Asif

Pakistani cricketer Mohammed Asif was detained in Dubai for 19 days in June 2008 after authorities at Dubai airport found opium in his wallet.

DJ Grooverider (Raymond Bingham)

UK Radio one’s DJ Grooverider (Raymond Bingham) was arrested for carrying marijuana in his luggage in November 2007. After spending ten months in jail he was deported to the UK after being included in a list of more than 700 prisoners freed in Dubai as a gesture of goodwill and compassion during Ramadan.

James Kottak

Scorpions drummer James Kottak was sentenced to a month in jail in April 2014 for insulting Islam while travelling through Dubai International Airport.

David Haigh

The former managing director of British football club Leeds United was arrested in May 2014, on charges of fraud. David Haigh remained in jail for 23 months.

Transgender actress and model Gigi Loren was denied entry to the UAE in August 2016 over confusion as her passport photo depicted a man. 

David Haye

In April 2015 British boxer David Haye was stopped at Dubai airport while trying to depart the UAE. He reportedly had his passport confiscated as a complaint by a local developer was issued about him over a bounced cheque.

DJ Esco

DJ Esco was jailed in November 2014 for possession of marijuana. The DJ, who is affiliated with hip-hop star Future, spent 56 nights in jail in Dubai after being stopped with the drug at Dubai International Airport.

Silento

In March 2017 American rapper Silento has been been banned from leaving the UAE after failing to appear at two concerts for which he was contracted.

DJ Aqeel

Composer and Bollywood DJ Aqeel was arrested at Dubai airport in June 2007 for possession of a banned substance. He was released after tests showed he had not used any drugs.
