Dubai Arrests 17 Beggars on Ramadan's First Day

On the first day of Ramadan in Dubai, seventeen beggars were apprehended in a crackdown initiated by Dubai Police in collaboration with various government entities.

This anti-begging campaign involved coordination with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), Dubai Municipality, and the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department. Among those arrested were 13 men and four women.

Colonel Ali Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the Suspects & Criminal Phenomena Department, emphasized the connection between begging, theft, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, including children and people with disabilities.

Dubai Police urged the public to refrain from sympathizing with beggars and to contribute only to recognized charities. Reporting beggars through the Dubai Police app or by calling 901 was underscored as crucial.
