Dubai Gives 90-Year-Old Educator His First-Ever Entry Stamp

60 years, one unforgettable stamp. Dubai just gave veteran Indian educator Haji N Jamaluddin the warmest "welcome back"—with a passport stamp six decades in the making.

Back in February 1965, Jamaluddin stepped off a ship from Mumbai and into a Dubai that was still finding its feet—no port, no airport, and definitely no immigration stamp. But fast forward to 2025, and the city gave him the recognition he never got, thanks to a heartfelt request from his son and the support of Dubai Airports.

"This new entry stamp isn’t just a mark in a passport, it’s a tribute to everything Dubai has given us," said Jamaluddin.

The gesture falls perfectly in line with the UAE’s Year of Community, and the moment was celebrated across social media by Dubai Airports, who wrote:

“He arrived in Dubai by sea in 1965, before there was even a port… we felt privileged to finally put a stamp in his passport to celebrate a legacy shaped by service, humility, and hope.”

Now 90, Jamaluddin is the founder and chairman of Crescent English High School, one of Dubai’s most affordable private schools, where tuition starts at just Dh3,409 per year. Since opening in 1984, the school has educated thousands of students—and currently serves over 1,700 learners.

For him, education has always been about impact over income.

“Money is not everything. Education is the best weapon for enlightenment,” he said.

As part of the tribute, students from his school were also treated to a special educational tour of Dubai International Airport (DXB)—a full-circle moment for a man who’s spent his life shaping young minds.

Jamaluddin credits much of his journey to the visionary leadership of the UAE. He recalls seeing the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum checking construction sites at sunrise and sees the same dedication in Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today.

A story stamped with legacy, loyalty, and love for a city he’s helped shape from the start.
