A Boeing 747 cargo plane flying from Dubai to Hong Kong veered off the north runway and ended up partially submerged in the sea around 3:50 a.m. Monday. The aircraft, operated by Turkish carrier ACT Airlines for Emirates SkyCargo, reportedly broke apart on impact.

Four Crew Rescued, Two Ground Staff Dead

All four crew members were safely rescued, airport authorities confirmed. However, two people on the ground—believed to have been in a vehicle struck by the plane—were killed in the incident, according to local reports.

No Cargo Onboard, Operations Unaffected

Emirates confirmed the plane carried no cargo and sustained major damage upon landing. Despite the crash, Hong Kong International Airport said flight operations would continue as normal.

Investigation Underway

Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department has reported the incident to the Air Accident Investigation Authority, which is now probing what went wrong. The aircraft, a 32-year-old converted freighter, had previously served as a passenger jet.
