Emirates to distribute COVID-19 vaccines

While the UAE approved a COVID-19 vaccine which was administered in the country and recieved by HH Sheikh Mohammed, Emirates airline prepares to distribute COVID-19 vaccines in mid-December.

According to Nabil Sultan, divisional senior vice president, Cargo, Emirates SkyCargo, there have been discussions with 12 pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Moderna and SinoPharm, to transfer the vaccine, once approved, to all parts of the world.

In an interview to CNBC, Tim Clark, the President of the Dubai-based carrier, said " The industry is trying to establish best practice involving the third-party supply chain and this logistical exercise, to ensure we get them (vaccines) to the markets that need them so badly, and basically that’s the whole planet.”

It is worth mentioning that Emirates SkyCargo transported more than 75 million kilograms of pharmaceuticals on its aircraft.

Emirates SkyCargo established the world’s first dedicated airside cargo hub for the vaccine in Dubai, Emirates SkyCentral DWC, a cargo terminal in Dubai South that will serve as a hub for cold chain storage and distribution of the vaccine.

On the other hand, the Dubai-based carrier announced a new intiative to provide expanded, multi-risk travel cover on top of its current COVID-19 cover to all it's customer.

"This new multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover will automatically apply to all Emirates tickets purchased from 1 December, and extends to Emirates codeshare flights operated by partner airlines, as long as the ticket number starts with 176" Emirates shared on their official Twitter account.

Emirates Airline has ensured it’s taking every precaution necessary in order to protect its staff and employees and is operating to all of its destinations.
