Watch: Etihad Rail's Commercial Freight Services now Fully Operational

Etihad Rail has announced the commencement of its commercial freight services, which are now fully operational and available for transportation of all types of cargo across the UAE. The company has also stated that it provides comprehensive end-to-end transport solutions to fulfill all business needs.

Etihad Rail has a modern fleet of vehicles equipped with advanced technology to ensure the efficient and safe transport of cargo. This news was shared by Etihad Rail via a tweet on Tuesday.

Etihad Rail can transport a diverse range of cargo across the UAE, including consumer goods, perishable food and beverage items, shipping aggregates, hay, petrochemicals, raw steel, limestone, cement, building materials, industrial and domestic waste, aluminum, containers, ceramics, polymers, bulk shipments, sugar, metals, and other general cargo.

Etihad Rail will use various types of wagons, including intermodal steel containers and temperature-controlled carriages for cargo transportation. The network connects major ports and logistics centers in the UAE.

Etihad Rail's modern fleet of freight trains includes 38 locomotives and over 1,000 multi-purpose vehicles. The trains can transport 60 million tons of goods annually, and each locomotive has a power of 4,500 horsepower.

The rail network can operate at up to 120 km/h and is designed to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the GCC region. The company aims to reduce road-based emissions by up to 80 percent and operates transparently on pre-defined timetables to ensure efficient and sustainable transportation of goods.

Etihad Rail's network links the UAE's four main ports and seven logistics centers for the efficient transportation of goods. The rail network also includes several charging stations situated in key locations such as Ruwais, Khalifa Port, and Dubai Industrial City to serve the trains and related businesses.
