Liwa Desert Returns to Hollywood Spotlight in ‘Dune: Part Three’ Teaser

Film fans finally have their first glimpse of Dune: Part Three—and it opens right in the heart of Abu Dhabi.

Legendary Entertainment has dropped the official teaser trailer for the third and final installment of the blockbuster trilogy directed by Denis Villeneuve, with sweeping shots of the Liwa Desert taking the spotlight.

Abu Dhabi steps into Arrakis

The teaser kicks off with cinematic views of the Liwa Desert, which once again doubles as the desert planet Arrakis. The golden dunes—already familiar to fans from earlier films—play a major role in shaping the world of the franchise.

Filming for the third movie began in July 2025, continuing the production’s strong ties with Abu Dhabi after scenes for both Dune and Dune: Part Two were also shot in the same location.

Star-studded cast returns

The film brings back a powerhouse lineup including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, and Rebecca Ferguson, alongside new and returning faces like Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Character posters featuring the cast have also been released across official social media channels, giving fans a closer look at what’s coming.

Backed by Abu Dhabi’s film industry

The production is supported by the Creative Media Authority Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, with Image Nation Abu Dhabi serving as a production partner.

The film also benefited from Abu Dhabi’s cashback rebate programme, which has helped attract over 180 major productions to the emirate.

What to expect

Written by Denis Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughan, the film is based on Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert.

Dune: Part Three is set for a global release in mid-December 2026, distributed by Warner Bros.
