Penang and Langkawi Flights: Dubai to Enhance Travel in Southeast Asia

On February 10th, on the auspicious first day of the Chinese New Year, flydubai marked its inaugural flight to Penang International Airport (PEN) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK). Notably, flydubai has become the first airline to offer daily services from Dubai to these two airports.

The arrival of flydubai's flights at Penang International Airport and Langkawi International Airport was met with a traditional water cannon salute, symbolizing a warm welcome from local authorities and underscoring the regional significance of this new air route.

Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, highlighted the airline's dedication to accessing underserved markets and expanding its network. He expressed excitement about introducing travelers to the diverse experiences offered by Penang and Langkawi, aligning with flydubai's broader goal of facilitating exploration in the Southeast Asian region.

The launch date's alignment with Chinese New Year celebrations added cultural immersion opportunities for tourists, particularly in Penang. YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang’s State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, anticipated the new direct flight to become a crucial international route, enhancing the region's allure for a more extensive audience.

Promising a mix of heritage, adventure, and relaxation, Penang, with its UNESCO-listed George Town, and Langkawi, known for pristine beaches and lush landscapes, showcase the diverse attractions of Malaysia. With lie-flat seats in Business Class and well-designed seats in Economy Class, flydubai's daily flights from Dubai International Airport to Penang and Langkawi aim to provide accessible and enjoyable travel experiences, catering to both adventurers and leisure seekers.
