Severe US Winter Storm Disrupts Etihad UAE–US Flights

Etihad Airways has cancelled and rescheduled multiple UAE–US flights as a severe winter storm is set to impact the US East Coast, bringing heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions to several major cities.

Passengers travelling between Abu Dhabi and destinations including New York and Boston have been urged to check their flight status and contact the airline as schedules are adjusted to prioritise passenger safety.

Forecasts indicate the storm will deliver between one and two feet of snow across cities such as New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, with strong winds and near-whiteout conditions expected to cause widespread travel disruption.

Cancelled Etihad flights

Etihad confirmed that the following services scheduled for February 23 have been cancelled:

  • EY1 Abu Dhabi (AUH) to New York (JFK)
  • EY2 New York (JFK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH)
  • EY7 Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Boston (BOS)
  • EY8 Boston (BOS) to Abu Dhabi (AUH)

Flight delays and revised schedules

Several UAE–US services have also been delayed or rescheduled:

  • EY3 Abu Dhabi to New York (JFK) on February 23 is delayed by around five hours and will now depart at 14:40 from Abu Dhabi, arriving at 20:25 in New York
  • EY4 New York (JFK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on February 22 will depart four hours earlier at 18:00 local time

Passenger advisory

Etihad said affected travellers will be rebooked on alternative flights once services resume or offered a full refund upon request. Passengers are advised to keep their contact details updated via the airline’s website to receive SMS or email notifications.

The airline reaffirmed that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority and warned that additional delays or cancellations may occur depending on weather developments. Etihad apologised for any inconvenience and encouraged customers to monitor its website for the latest flight status updates.
