What Is Kokoro?

Kokoro (which means “heart” in Japanese) is all about bringing passion and precision to every bite. But this isn’t your typical sushi joint. At Kokoro, the experience is just as important as the food. Diners get a front-row seat at the sushi bar, where they can watch their rolls being crafted right before their eyes by the chefs themselves.

The Faces Behind the Rolls

The Dubai outpost is the brainchild of Tamer El Khayat and Faisal Yabroudi, who brought the concept to the UAE. But the culinary magic comes from powerhouse duo Chef Daniel Lee (aka Ducky) and Chef Patrick Pham, who co-founded the original Kokoro in Houston, Texas back in 2019.

With over 20 years of combined experience in Japanese cuisine and sushi, Daniel and Patrick created the first hand roll bar in Houston, and now they’ve brought that same energy and expertise to the Middle East.

What Makes Kokoro Special?

Everything on the menu is made fresh to order. That means no pre-made rolls sitting around, your sushi is sliced, spiced, and served right in front of you by the chefs. From crisp seaweed to perfectly seasoned rice and fresh fish, every hand roll is packed with flavor (and personality).
