Dubai to Become a 20-Minute City As Part of the RTA 2024-2030 Plan

You know that feeling, when you want to file a very important and stress-inducing governmental paper or even purchase something as simple as your favorite snack from the grocery shop but you end up doing nothing at all because all these errands are so out of your way? Well, that shan’t happen any more because Dubai is set to become a 20-minute city.
If you’re not entirely sure what that means, let us tell you. The Higher Committee for Strategic Planning and Corporate Transformation at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which happens to be led by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General & Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, have updated their plan for 2024-2030 which will focus on achieving five goals that are paramount to innovative mobility. Basically, Dubai is currently in the works of facilitating the development of roads and transport systems to fully transform into a 20-minute city, rendering 80% of daily services at the entire emirate accessible to every single person within a 20-minute journey via walking or cycling. This will not only dramatically improve accessibility, but it will also elevate multi-modal transport and strengthen the current and future mobility services.
