UAE Plans to Host More Indian Weddings, Bollywood Films & Festivals

The UAE is turning its spotlight on Indian weddings — not just as glamorous events, but as cultural celebrations that connect two nations already close at heart.

At the 2nd UAE–India Cultural Council meeting in Abu Dhabi, Minister of State Noura Al Kaabi said the UAE hopes to welcome more Indian weddings, noting how Indian hotel chains “truly understand” the rituals and grandeur of these multi-day events.

“It’s not just about hosting weddings, but about celebrating shared traditions,” she said, highlighting that these details strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Bollywood’s Second Home

The UAE isn’t new to Bollywood glamour — hundreds of Indian films have already used Dubai and Abu Dhabi as cinematic backdrops. Al Kaabi said this creative partnership continues to grow, adding that over seven million Indian tourists visit the UAE each year.

But beyond tourism, the goal is emotional connection. “Indians in the UAE are the largest expat community, and that presence didn’t happen by accident,” Al Kaabi said.

Shared Values and Family Bonds

With more than four million Indians calling the UAE home, the minister emphasized that what unites the two nations goes beyond business.

“Our cultures share deep family values — love, respect for elders, and strong community bonds,” she said. “Even simple things like henna reflect how intertwined our traditions are.”

Creative Hubs and Cultural Projects

The growing UAE–India friendship is also visible through initiatives like India House in Abu Dhabi and the recently opened BAPS Hindu Mandir. Both countries are exploring more youth programs, artist exchanges, and creative start-up partnerships to fuel long-term collaboration.

“We want these projects to be hubs of ideas — where artists, researchers, and innovators come together,” Al Kaabi said, adding that upcoming festivals and yoga collaborations will further strengthen ties.
