UAE Warns Citizens: Travel Advisory on Ebola Outbreak

The UAE has urged its citizens to avoid traveling to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan unless absolutely necessary because of health concerns related to the Ebola virus.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel advisory asking Emirati nationals to postpone any non-essential trips to these countries. The ministry also recommended keeping updated with official guidance about the ongoing outbreak.

The advisory is part of the UAE government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and ensuring they stay informed about situations that might impact their safety.

For Emiratis currently in Uganda, DR Congo, or South Sudan, the ministry advised exercising maximum caution, closely following health and safety directives from local authorities, and staying alert to updates regarding the disease.

Citizens in these countries were encouraged to register with the "Twajudi" service, which helps UAE officials assist and stay in contact with nationals during emergencies. Emiratis can also reach out to the dedicated emergency hotline for urgent assistance if needed.

This advisory highlights the heightened surveillance around Ebola in East and Central Africa, where health teams are actively working to control the outbreak and stop the virus from spreading further.
