Vehicles Breaking Traffic Laws Can be Towed and Seized by the RTA

On Monday, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that it had signed a contract with Emirates Parkings that would permit it to seize vehicles that break the law.

The RTA has the authority to impound trailers, both light and heavy vehicles for breaking both local and federal laws under the recently signed agreement. The authority has also installed touch displays on the automatic and updated public parking meters to allow users to enter car information, print an e-ticket, and receive text messages via the Parking system. This newly renovated system makes it possible to share information on seized vehicles and figure out the appropriate fees. All auction records for those vehicles are also maintained in the system.

The management of the vehicle impounding procedure is also covered by the agreement, including receiving the vehicles needed for impoundment from their owners or representatives at the vehicle impounding yard. The impounding yard is managed by Emirates Parking. This includes supplying security cameras and qualified personnel.

The process for releasing automobiles is outlined in the agreement, taking into account the specifics of each vehicle. If a technical traffic violation led to the seizure, the car will be released after the allotted time has passed and the fee has been paid.
