Dubai: RTA to Ease Traffic on Hessa Street

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have constructed three new roads in Dubai to ease traffic congestion on Hessa Street and to support Dubai's urban expansion.

The three completed roads are located in Al Quoz 2, Nad Al Sheba 2, and Al Barsha South 3 and together, these roads stretch out a total of 37 km.

RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer said  that RTA "carried out paving of roads along with infrastructure works that included a rainwater drainage network and street lighting.”

RTA has finished the construction of a network of main roads, which extend 16 km at Al Quoz 2 in the area between Al Khail and Meydan Roads. The roads will improve accessibility around the market complex and the Quoz Market Park, serving 3,000 residents.

In Al Barsha South 3, RTA has developed roads that measure 6.4 km and extend from Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens. They have also constructed street lights, bus stops, and car parking for these roads. The project has increased accessibility to newly developed areas in Al Barsha South 3, serving its 4,500 residents.

These road projects have increased the capacity of entry and exit points of Hessa Street by 1,500 vehicles per hour. They will also ease the movement of vehicles to and from Umm Suqeim Street and the road networks of Al Barsha South 2.

RTA has also finished building roads extending to 12 km in Nad Al Sheba 2 and construction included street lights, parallel parking, a rainwater drainage system, and a sewage network system.

RTA's in-progress road projects include Margham, Lahbab, Al Lesaily, and Hatta, which are expected to be finished by the end of 2023. Al Fay Road and the intersection of Nad Al Hamar and Ras Al Khor roads are also underway, while the former is expected to open in March, the latter will start operating at the end of April 2024.
