April is bringing a wave of updates across Dubai—and some of them could directly affect your daily routine, from how you pay to how you get around. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s new this month.

Dh1B support package for businesses

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a Dh1 billion support package aimed at helping businesses and protecting jobs.

The measures, rolling out from April 1 over three to six months, include fee deferrals for hotels, extended customs grace periods, and easier residency processing.

Driverless taxis hit the road

Dubai’s future just arrived. Autonomous taxis are now operating in select areas like Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, bookable via Uber.

Around 100 robotaxis are already available following successful trials.

Petrol prices jump

Fuel prices have surged across the UAE this April, with Super 98 now at Dhs3.39 per litre and diesel jumping to Dhs4.69. Expect higher transport costs across the board.

13 new cycling tracks open

Dubai is getting more bike-friendly, with 13 new cycling tracks added across key areas, including routes linking Al Khawaneej, Al Mamzar, and Jumeirah.

OTPs officially phased out

Banks in the UAE are ending OTPs sent via SMS or email for transactions. Moving forward, payments will require authentication through official banking apps for added security.

Distance learning extended

Remote learning will continue until April 17 for schools and universities, with authorities reviewing the situation weekly.

Airlines eye return to DXB

Some international airlines are planning to resume flights to Dubai International Airport this April, though schedules remain subject to change. Travelers are advised to check directly with airlines before flying.

Temporary residency rule ends

A temporary rule allowing residents with expired permits to re-enter the UAE without a new entry permit ended on March 31. From April 1, standard residency rules are back in place.
