Abu Dhabi Launches First All-Electric Waste Collection Lorry

Abu Dhabi presented its first all-electric rubbish collection van to support the UAE's transition to a net-zero future.

The eco-friendly truck was unveiled by collaboration between Renault Trucks Middle East, also known as Tadweer, and the Al Masaood Group. Tadweer will run it to gather domestic waste throughout the emirate.

The hefty truck will be put through testing to see how it does in the sweltering summer heat of the UAE and to make sure there are enough charging stations along its route.

With Paris and Barcelona adopting dozens of the Renault Trucks D-Wide E-tech lorries as part of their sustainability programs, the Renault Trucks D-Wide E-tech lorry has already shown its efficiency and performance in Europe. The truckers' efficiency is further increased by their ability to go up to 200 kilometers between charges.

Earlier, Dubai launched its first emissions-free autonomous electric wooden abra, or water taxi, to support efforts to cut carbon emissions and boost the emirate’s self-driving transport goals.
