Abu Dhabi Schools Roll Out Strict Teacher Ethics Code

Abu Dhabi has launched a fresh Code of Professional Ethics for teachers—and it’s not just a formality. The rules lay out exactly what’s off-limits in classrooms and staff rooms, all to protect students and keep school life professional and respectful.

What’s Banned?

The list is pretty clear. Teachers can’t:

  • Discriminate against anyone based on religion, gender, ethnicity, or status.

  • Harass or bully colleagues or students, verbally or physically.

  • Spread rumours or ruin a colleague’s reputation.

  • Share confidential info.

  • Misrepresent their qualifications.

  • Wear clothing deemed culturally inappropriate.

On the flip side, teachers are expected to honour UAE national identity, respect diversity, and keep things professional inside and outside the classroom.

Schools Taking It Seriously

School leaders say this code isn’t just paperwork—it’s part of daily school life. From job interviews to onboarding sessions, staff are trained and reminded about professionalism, wellbeing, and cultural respect.

Regular training, CPD workshops, and mentoring keep teachers up to speed, while monitoring systems ensure the rules actually stick. Breaches can mean anything from counselling to formal disciplinary action, with major violations reported to ADEK.
