All You Need to Know About the Golden Canary Diamond

Sotheby's Dubai has unveiled a rare yellow diamond that weighs 303.10 carats, making it the largest flawless diamond in the world, according to the Gemological Institute of America.

The tour of this exceptional stone starts from Dubai to Taipei, then Hong Kong and Geneva before arriving in New York, where it will be auctioned on December 7.

Golden Canary’s value is estimated at about $15 million, but it will be offered for sale in a no-reserve auction to increase the competition.

This golden rock turned into a piece of rough diamond of 890 carats that quickly gained remarkable attention, and its cutting was a difficult task that took 5 years and resulted in 15 separate stones, the largest of which weighed 407.5 carats. Later, a decision was taken to cut it again to enhance its color transforming it into the Golden Canary that weighs 303 carats.

The Golden Canary joins the list of rare diamonds previously exhibited in Dubai, most notably the Cullinan de Beers Blue, which was subsequently sold for approximately $56 million.
