The UAE to Chair the Kimberley Process in 2024

Yesterday, the Dubai Multi Commodities Center announced that the UAE will assume the presidency of the Kimberley Process Organization in 2024, and will assume the role of Vice President in 2023.

This decision followed deliberations at the general meeting of the Kimberley Process organization in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, which concluded the day before yesterday.

The Kimberley Process is an international group working to regulate the global diamond trade, established by the United Nations in 2003, with 85 countries participating, seeking to ensure that illegal diamonds do not enter legitimate diamond markets as a means of financing conflicts.

 In 2016, the UAE was chosen to be the first and only Arab country to chair the annual Kimberley Process presidency.
