The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced that emergency alert sounds on mobile phones will be adjusted during nighttime hours.

According to the authority, the current loud alarm will continue to be used during the day, but alerts sent late at night will use a quieter notification tone.

Softer alerts at night

Under the update, emergency alerts sent between 10:30pm and 9am will use the same sound as a regular text message notification.

Officials said the change aims to make alerts less disruptive during nighttime hours while still ensuring residents receive important notifications.

Daytime alerts remain unchanged

During daytime hours, the standard loud emergency alarm will remain in place to ensure people immediately notice critical warnings.

The alerts are part of the UAE’s national early warning system, which sends urgent notifications directly to residents’ phones during emergencies.
